Ola Electric has yet again rejigged the Ola S1 lineup as the brand attempts to further streamline its model lineup. The latest change is that the original Ola S1 has been removed from the list, leaving only the Ola S1 Air and the Ola S1 Pro.

The brand commenced the purchase window for the S1 Air, which was supposed to end on July 31, with the price sitting at Rs 1.1 lakh (ex-showroom). Post the purchase window period, the price would be increased to Rs 1.2 lakh. Ola however has increased the duration of the window, owing to the strong response, which has seen more than 50,000 bookings for the S1 Air. The purchase window now extends till August 15.

While the base S1 Air was announced with a price tag of Rs 79,999 for a 2.5kWh battery pack, Ola decided to expand the lineup to three battery options including 2kWh, 3kWh and 4kWh. This too was later changed, and now the Ola S1 Air is only offered with the 3kWh battery pack. This means that the customers who booked the scooter for the base price of Rs 79,999 will now have to pay Rs 30,000 extra to get their S1 Air.

The Ola S1 too featured a 3kWh battery pack, which means that the S1 Air too has a very respectable IDC range of 125km. It comes with a 4.5kW electric motor, which can propel the scooter to a top speed of 90kmph.

The other reason for Ola to pull the plug on the S1 may be the pull back on the FAME-II subsidies, which rendered the Ola S1 Pro almost Rs 23,000 more expensive than before. With the extra price and the features, the S1 did not really serve as a competitive scooter in the segment.
