BMW launched all-new M 1000 XR in India

The M 1000 XR is priced at Rs 45 lakh and will be available as a CBU

BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW M 1000 XR, available as a completely built-up unit (CBU). Starting today, the motorcycle can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India authorized dealerships. The M 1000 XR is exclusively offered in the M Competition variant, priced at Rs 45 lakh, ex-showroom, with deliveries set to commence in June 2024.

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW M 1000 XR is an M bike through and through. It embodies everything that the most powerful letter in the world stands for: leadership, supremacy and playful, effortless dominance. This bike successfully completes the equation for an incomparable riding experience of M-like performance and XR-like long-distance capability. The all-new M XR maximizes everything – your riding experience, your endurance and, whenever you want, your adrenaline.”

Design and Aerodynamics

The front features new M winglets and the iconic signature LED light for maximum recognition. These M winglets generate downforce at high speeds, enhancing driving stability, reducing wheelies, and ensuring a smoother ride. The bike also boasts upside-down forks with a 45mm slide tube diameter, offering extensive adjustment options.

Sporty Rear Section

The rear section of the M 1000 XR is redesigned to be narrower, featuring slimmer side panels, motorsport-style air intakes, and a high-strength plastic passenger grab handle. The motorsport influence is evident in the M milled parts, including the M clutch and brake lever, a steep titanium rear silencer, and a short number plate carrier. The front’s “all-black” finish, coupled with the new bar-end mirrors, enhances the bike’s exclusive Hyper Cross Over Look.

Performance and Engine Specifications

The M 1000 XR is powered by a modified water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine, derived from the S 1000 RR. It delivers a peak power of 198.25bhp (148kW) at 12,750rpm and a maximum torque of 113Nm at 11,000rpm, with a maximum engine speed of 14,600rpm. The bike can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 278kmph. The engine features BMW ShiftCam technology, which varies the valve timing and valve lift on the intake side.

Advanced Instrumentation and Features

The new M 1000 XR includes a 6.5-inch TFT display with start-up animation and M logo, new rev counter display, and an OBD interface for M GPS Datalogger and M GPS Laptrigger. Other features include a lightweight M battery, USB charging socket, powerful LED light units, adaptive turning light, electronic cruise control, and heated grips.

Riding Modes and Safety Features

The bike offers multiple riding modes, Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro1-3. It also features Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), DTC wheelie function with a 6-axis sensor box, Launch Control, and a pit-lane limiter. Additionally, the Brake Slide Assist function allows for controlled brake drifting into corners, and the Shift Assistant Pro enables fast gear changes without using the clutch. Hill Start Control Pro facilitates comfortable starts on inclines.

M Competition Package

The M 1000 XR comes standard with the M Competition Package, which makes the bike 3kg lighter. This package includes high-gloss Black Storm metallic paintwork, high-gloss carbon fibre side panels and mudguards, M Carbon wheels, M Carbon parts, and a fully adjustable M rider footrest system. The package also includes a MGPS Lap trigger and exclusive rim tapes for the M Carbon wheels.

Customization Options

A wide range of optional equipment and original BMW Motorcycle accessories is available for further customization of the all-new BMW M 1000 XR, allowing riders to tailor the bike to their personal preferences and needs.
