Based on the Unicorn, the SP160 is a sportier take on the premium commuter motorcycles from Honda
Honda has launched the SP160 in India with prices starting at Rs 1.17 lakh, ex-showroom. This is the third model based on the 160cc platform from Honda after the X-Blade and the Unicorn.
While it is based on the Honda Unicorn, the Honda SP160 has a bunch of differences. The front gets full LED headlamps, with halogen turn signals. There is a 12 litre fuel tank with a sporty shroud. It gets a long single seat, ample for two adults. The engine comes with a metal shroud, while the side panels blend in well with the rest of the fitments. The LED tail lamp is sharp and enhances the overall look. The motorcycle comes with alloy wheels with MRF Zapper tyres. Offered in six colours – Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Matte Dark Blue Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black and Pearl Deep Ground Grey.
The Honda SP160 uses the same 162.71cc single cylinder PGM-FI engine which produces 13.28bhp and 14.58Nm of torque. This is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The chassis too is the same as the Unicorn, however the seating position is a bit sporty compared to that as the footpeg has been moved.
The motorcycle rides on a telescopic front and a monoshock rear suspension, with 17-inch alloy wheels. It uses a 276mm petal disc brake for the front and a 200mm disc for the rear, the drum brake variant gets a 130mm drum brake for the rear. Both variants come with single-channel ABS as standard.
SP160 gets a fully-digital dash, which projects all the info and in addition also shows the gear positon, side stand indication and service indicator. The trip meter displays data like the fuel efficiency, average speed and other telematics.
Honda SP160 is priced at Rs 1.17 lakh for the single disc variant while the dual-disc variant is priced at Rs 1.21 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. In addition to the standard three year warranty, the SP160 also has the optional 7 year warranty add on, taking the warranty period to a total of 10 years.
