Smallest SUV from Hyundai will compete against Tata Punch and Citroen C3
The long awaited Hyundai Exter has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 5.99 lakh. This is the company’s smallest SUV and will primarily compete against the Tata Punch and is offered with a single engine option.

As far as looks are concerned, the Exter features butch styling which mixes well with the tallish proportions of the car. Dimensionally it measures 3,815mm in length, 1,710mm in width and 1,631mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The front features unique H-shaped LED DRLs and headlamps placed lower down, while the rear too gets H-shaped LED taillamps. It rides on 15-inch alloy wheels.
Customers have a choice between three dual tone and six monochromatic colour schemes. Cosmic Blue, Ranger Khaki, Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black roof, and Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black roof are the four brand-new, exclusive additions. Three colours are offered for the interiors: Light Sage, Cosmic Blue, and Silver.
While the overall cabin follows a similar layout to other Hyundai models, The dash has a black 3D pattern finish. The features include metal pedals, leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and footwell lighting, a voice-activated motorized sunroof, a dashcam with dual cameras, wireless charging, rear AC vents, and a cooled glove box.
The Hyundai Exter features an 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument panel with a 4.2-inch color TFT multi-information display, cruise control, automatic climate control, six airbags, and seat belt reminders for every seat. Infotainment and map updates are supported via OTA.
The 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine used in the Hyundai Exter is E20 fuel ready. The engine produces 113.8Nm of maximum torque and 81.86bhp of maximum power. Either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT options are available. Segment-first paddle shifters are also available. A CNG variant is also offered; it has 68bhp and 95.2Nm of torque and may be combined with a 5-speed MT.
