TVS Motor Company has launched the X, a new electric scooter at an introductory price of Rs. 2,49,990 (ex-showroom) with portable 950W chargers at Rs 16,275 (including GST) and a 3kW Smart X Home rapid charger is also available as an option. It’s the second electric scooter offered from the TVS after the i-Qube. Bookings are open and can be done with Rs. 5,000. Manufacturer will start TVS X deliveries from year end and initially in Bengaluru followed by other regions by March 2024.
The X will not be eligible for the central government’s FAME-II subsidy. According to the manufacturer the first 2,000 owners of the ‘First Edition’ of the TVS X electric scooter will be able to avail of ‘TVS X Club Concierge Service’, enabling access to on-demand services, dedicated concierge services and additional Rs. 18,000 benefits.
The TVS X is based on the XLETON platform and borrows its design mostly from the Creon concept showcased at Auto Expo 2018. The X gets three riding modes – Xtride, Xtealth and Xonic and offers cruise control also. It features vertically-stacked cube-like LED headlights and smartly positioned cornering lamps. It has a selective regenerative braking system also.
It comes equipped with a customisable 10.25-inch HD tilt screen with functions such as video playback, games and music along with usual data. The alloy wheels are 12-inch and have an under-seat storage capacity of 19-litres.
TVS X will get a 4.44kWh battery pack with a range of 140km (claimed) on a single charge. TVS claimed the X will do 0 to 40kmph in just 2.6 seconds, 0 to 60kmph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 105kmph. The mid drive RAM intake air-cooled motor produces continuous output of 7kW and a peak output of 11kW and peak torque at 40Nm. The X will come with telescopic forks at the front and a mono shock unit at rear. It has discs for both front 220mm and rear 195mm.
