Ather has redone its lineup to include the new 450S, the 450X with the smaller battery and the 450X with a larger battery
Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy has launched the new Ather 450S, which is an affordable alternative to the 450X. The Ather 450S also debuts some new features, which have also been added to the 450X. The updated Ather 450X for now is only offered with the 2.9kWh battery, the same unit offered with the 450S.

The 450S significantly raises the bar in terms of riding pleasure and safety while still delivering on performance. The 450S will appeal to all those who want to enter the electric segment but are seeking the quality and assurance that Ather scooters provide at an accessible price point. Along with the 450S we are also introducing the 450X in 3kWh and 4kWh capacity providing more options to our customers to choose from our best selling scooter platform.”
The new Ather 450S is a budget alternative to the 450X, and mainly the changes are limited to the motor, battery and some features. The body and everything else has remained the same for both of them. It uses a 2.9kWh battery pack which comes mated to a 7.2bhp electric motor. This powertrain helps the scooter from 0 to 40kmph in just 3.9 seconds and to a top speed of 90kmph. Ather claims a range of 115km on a single charge.
The Ather 450S gets a 7-inch DeepView TFT display which comes with a number of features. This includes the 1000:1 contrast ratio, multiple display modes, interactive directions display and much more. There are new safety features too such as FallSafe, Emergency Stop Signal and coasting regen. There are new switches too, such as the new reverse switch.
The Ather 450X has also been updated with the new switchgear and safety features. For now only the 2.9kWh battery is on offer. This gives the 450X which has the more powerful 8.4bhp motor a range of 115km.
Ather Energy will begin deliveries of the new Ather 450X 2.9kWh by August 3rd week, the new 450S by August last week and the new 450X by October.
