It is available at an introductory offer of Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 units
Triumph has launched the Speed 400 motorcycle. This motorcycle is priced at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom) and is the first product from the Bajaj-Triumph partnership. As an introductory offer, the Triumph Speed 400 is available for Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 units.
As the name suggests, the Speed 400 is part of the brand’s successful Speed model range which also has the Speed Twins. At the global unveil recently, the brand also showcased the Scrambler 400 X, which is a more rugged terrain-tackling sibling of the Speed 400. Both motorcycles have been developed at Triumph’s base in the UK and feature the same quality and attention to detail as other models from the brand.
In terms of power, the Triumph Speed 400 uses a single-cylinder 398cc motor which is liquid-cooled. This makes 40bhp and 37.5Nm of torque with the power routed through a 6-speed gearbox. The motor has been tuned to offer a large chunk of its power in the low-mid range. It comes with ride-by-wire, traction control (switchable), dual-channel ABS, LED lighting, and a dual-format instrument cluster.
The Speed 400 is suspended on 43mm big-piston forks and a mono-shock. It gets 17-inch wheels with MRF tyres, while for brakes it gets a 300mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at the rear. Triumph has properly styled the Speed 400 in the modern classic avatar and customers can choose between Red, Blue, or Black colours.
With an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.33 lakh (Rs 2.23, introductory), the Speed 400 will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa 42, Harley-Davidson X440, and the Honda H’ness CB350. The Speed 400 will be available to customers this month, while the Scrambler 400 X will be launched in October.
