The Italian marque has had its best half-year result, with the Urus and Huracan selling in record numbers
Italian automaker Automobili Lamborghini has had the best half yearly results ever. The company has delivered 5,341 units this year in H1, which comprises the Urus SUV and the Huracan V10 supercar. The new V12 Revuelto has had a tremendous response from customers, with the car completely booked for the next two years.
Reflecting on the record-breaking sales performance, Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said, “We have achieved yet another record half-year for our company, and take great pride once again in communicating the results. We are really excited about these numbers, delivered with only two models in the range, in a year that we can define as special for Lamborghini. In fact, 2023, in addition to marking the company’s 60th anniversary, has seen the launch of the Revuelto, the first plug-in hybrid in our history, and the presentation of the SC63, the most advanced racing car ever designed by Lamborghini that follows the company’s Direzione Cor Tauri strategy for electrifying the range.”
The company posted a 4.9 % increase in sales compared to H1 2022. In terms of area distribution of sales, EMEA ( Europe, Middle East and Africa) accounted for 2,285 units, followed by America with 1,857 units and Asia Pacific with 1,199 units. Country wise, the United States tops the list with 1,625 cars, followed by the United Kingdom with 514 cars and Germany with 511 cars.
Earlier this year, Lamborghini unveiled the successor to the Aventador – the Lamborghini Revuelto. This is the most powerful series-production car from the brand, and also the first to use a hybrid powertrain. Lamborghini claims that the Revuelto is booked for the next two years, which means that if you were to head to your dealership or the brand’s website and book one and pay the booking amount, the company will only be able to produce the particular car and deliver it in 2026. Both the Urus and the Huracan are completely booked for their production run, which is set to end next year, with replacements to be revealed.
Lamborghini India too has had success in the past few years. It has gone from only 26 units in 2017 to 92 units in 2022, a majority of which has been the Urus SUV. The brand launched the Huracan STO and the Huracan Tecnica in India, as well as the Urus S and the Urus Performante. The brand will now be bringing the Huracan Sterrato to India. The Revuelto too will make it to Indian shores next year, followed by the V10-hybrid successor to the Huracan.
India as a market for Lamborghini is growing at a rapid rate, with the sales numbers standing at 26 units in 2017, 45 in 2018, 52 in 2019, 37 in 2020, 69 units in 2021 and going up to 92 units in 2022. Going forward the brand is expected to bring the Huracan Sterrato to India, which is priced at Rs 4.61 crore (ex-showroom). This will be followed by the Lamborghini Revuelto, and the Huracan’s hybrid successor next year.
