Soon to be launched in June month, price expected to be on premium side
The Jimny is a compact SUV known for its rugged design and off-road capabilities. It has gained a significant following in various international markets since its first generation launch in 1970. In India, there has been a growing demand for compact SUVs, which has forced Maruti Suzuki to launch Jimny in India.
As we all know Maruti has revealed the Jimny in all manners except the prices, which probably be announced in June’23. After first showcased in Auto Expo, 2023, it crossed over 30,000 bookings in a very short period shows the people’s love towards compact SUV.
Since prices are yet to be revealed by the company we will talk about its power, feature and safety. The 5-door Jimny features simple round headlamps, independent indicators. Manufacturer will offer Jimny with 1.5L K15B engine in four variants (Zeta, Alpha in Manual and Automatic Transmission) with 4×4 AllGrip technology. The core functionality of ALLGRIP PRO, the 4WD System in Jimny, is to offer the maximum traction and torque to navigate the toughest of terrains. K15B Petrol Engine that generates peak power of 103bhp@6000rpm and 134.2Nm@4000rpm of peak torque. The 3-Link rigid axle suspension in Jimny increases tyre contact in tough terrains. With ground clearance of 210mm Jimny is unstoppable in every terrain. Letting you go the distance is Jimny’s fuel tank capacity of 40 litres; more adventure, lesser fuel stops.The Alpha variant gets LED headlamps along with headlamp washers to tackle muddy terrain. It will come with 15inch steel wheel in Zeta variant and with alloy in Alpha Variant.
Interior looks typical Maruti patent. Top variant comes with keyless entry, auto headlamp with washers, twin pod instrument cluster, 9inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, climate control, electric foldable mirrors, rear washer and wiper. The boot space in Jimny is 208L which can be increased to 332L with the rear seat folded.
The Jimny is a true-blue 4X4 compact SUV that impresses with its capabilities. Compact in length, the Jimny comes with the ALLGRIP PRO, a Low-Range transfer gear that offers plenty of torque and traction to claw your way out through the toughest of terrains. The Hill Descent Control with a push of a button allows you to control the speed of the vehicle using only the accelerator pedal and Hill Hold Assist prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards.
The new Jimny comes equipped with 6 airbags which come as standard across all variants. This safety quotient is further augmented by ABS, EBD, ESP, Side-Impact door beams, brake assist function, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seatbelt pretensioner, rear view camera and engine immobiliser.
Overall it’s a good looking compact SUV which comes in direct competition to the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, who already established them in the Indian market. Price should be start under 10 lakh and go up to 13 lakh to lure buyer.
