The Santa Fe SUV has been given a full makeover for its latest avatar. Take a look at what all is new
The Hyundai Santa Fe has received a makeover for its fifth-generation. Although calling the changes a makeover is an understatement considering just how different this new SUV is to the older one.
Speaking about the new Santa Fe, SangYup Lee, Executive VP, and head of Hyundai Global Design Center said, “The all-new Santa Fe is an SUV that finds a perfect balance between city life and the great outdoors, handling everything from busy family itineraries to car camping adventures. With its longer wheelbase, roomy interior and terrace-like tailgate space, the new Santa Fe leans into its SUV strengths to offer more versatility than ever before as well as a premium customer experience.”
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe joins a few SUVs which have donned the rugged lifestyle look in the past year. It has shed its earlier soft SUV looks for a very butch, utilitarian look. The front gets a wide grille while the headlamps are rectangular and feature LED DRLs which form the H shape. The grille also houses the LED strip, which connects the entire DRL assembly and forms a larger H shape. The SUV has a longer wheelbase than before, and carries a sharp look akin to the Range Rover design where the beltline is unbroken till the tailgate. The rear is boxy too, while the LED taillamps have been placed lower below. Rides on 21-inch alloys.
Hyundai has also upgraded the premiumness of the Santa Fe’s cabin with the Hyundai Curved display. This houses twin 12.3-inch displays – one for the instruments and one for the infotainment. The interior also has the rectangular design elements, as can be seen on the vents and the climate control panel on the central console. The SUV has three-rows, which can be folded down. Features have as yet not been confirmed by the brand yet, but being a premium SUV, expect it to come with multi-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, electrically powered seats, heated and ventilated seats, ambient lighting and ADAS features.
Details of the powertrain have not been revealed by Hyundai yet, but is likely to do so next month when the brand hosts a global press conference.
While there is no confirmation whether this new Santa Fe will be brought to India or not, we would definitely like to see the SUV return. If it does come to India, it will compete with the three-row full size SUVs like the Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster and will be priced above the Rs 40 lakh mark.
