Tata’s bestseller has transcended into a new car with a new look and a large host of new features
Tata Motors has revealed the most comprehensive update to the Nexon SUV. The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift is a new car from every angle and gets a host of new features as well as safety upgrades. The Nexon has been one of the highest selling SUVs in India, often being at the top spot monthly and is a major driver of Tata’s sales.
2023 Tata Nexon: exterior
The new Nexon comes with a fresh nose, which has slim LED DRLs with the headlamps placed below in a split fashion. Similar designs have been seen in Tata’s concept cars, mainly the Curvv. The DRLs also function as the turn indicators. The upper grille is slim, while the lower section is wide and features a mesh pattern.
The rear gets sharp Y-shaped LED taillamps which are connected. The SUV sits on new 16-inch alloy wheels. The overall silhouette however has not changed, and continues with the butch yet curvy lines.
2023 Tata Nexon: Interior
The cabin of the 2023 Tata Nexon has been heavily updated too. The car now comes with a three-tone upholstery which makes it look very premium. The instrument panel now uses a 10.25-inch display which is heavily customizable and has the ability to beam navigation data, there is a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Features include ventilated seats, fully auto climate control with touch buttons, sunroof, air purifier and wireless charger. The boot space has been boosted to 382 litres, up from 350.
2023 Tata Nexon: Safety features
The safety net now boasts of features such as six airbags, 360-degree surround view system with front parking sensors, blind view monitor, ESP, TPMS, auto headlamps with rain sensing wipers, and front fog lamps with cornering function. On top of this, the Nexon has a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
2023 Tata Nexon: Engine and transmission options
While the Nexon continues to use the 120bhp 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 115bhp 1.5-litre diesel as before, Tata has decided to opt for new transmission options for the petrol. A new 7-speed DCT is on offer (DCA in Tata lingo) while a 5-speed manual shifter is also available. These are in addition to the older 6-speed manual and AMT options. The four transmission options vary depending upon the trim level. The diesel continues with the 6-speed MT and 6-speed AMT.
2023 Tata Nexon: Variants and trim options
Unlike earlier where the Nexon had variant like XE, XM and XZ, Tata has opted to use the Punch lineup names. This incliues the Creative, Fearless, Pure and Smart, each offered with + and S suffix as a denotion for more features and the sunroof. Prices are expected to rise over the older car, but is expected to be in the range of Rs 8 to 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
