The newest motorcycle in the Apache series is also the second from TVS to use the 310cc motor
TVS Motor Company has launched the Apache RTR 310 in India. This is priced at Rs 2.43 lakh (ex-showroom). While it shares the platform and the engine with the Apache RR 310 and the BMW G 310 range, this is quite different, in essence a new generation for the TVS 310 powered motorcycles.
Now power comes from the same 312cc liquid cooled motor which can be found in the RR 310 and BMW G 310 range. But the power output has been bumped to 35.6bhp and 28.7Nm of torque, a rise of 1.6bhp and 0.7Nm of torque compared to the RR 310. This is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 is based on an aluminium trellis frame which is similar to that on the RR 310. However this comes with a new subframe which is sporty and rises sharply at the tail. It comes with a USD and monoshock suspension setup. It gets a split LED headlamp with multiple intensity modes and an LED DRL, all to give it that aggressive streetfighter look. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Road 5 rubber.
Features include a new 5.0-inch instrumentation which is SmartXonnect enabled. Tech such as cruise control, TPMS, heated and cooled seats, smartphone as well as GoPro connectivity as part of the package. Now this motorcycle too comes as a part of the TVS’ BTO (Built to Order) setup which allows customers to spec their bike with quite a number of equipment. This includes race tuned dynamic stability and linear stability control, cornering ABS, Cornering Traction Control, Cornering Cruise Control, Wheelie Control, Slope dependent control, rear lift-off control. All these aids are controlled via a 6-axis IMU.
Customers can choose from Dynamic Kit or Dynamic Pro kit. The latter comes with the Race tuned DSC and the 6D IMU, while the former adds adjustable suspension, brass coated chain and TPMS.
TVS has priced the RTR 310 at Rs 2.43 lakh. This is for the base model with the Arsenal black colour option without the quickshifter. Choose the Quickshifter and the price rises to Rs 2.58 lakh while the Fury Yellow costs an additional Rs 6,000 on this. The Dynamic Kit costs Rs 18,000 extra while the Dynamic Pro costs Rs 22,000. The top-spec fully-loaded RTR 310 costs Rs 2.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
