Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift launched in India, priced from Rs 1.32 crore

The flagship 3-row SUV from Mercedes-Benz has been updated with new features and a slightly altered look for 2024

Mercedes-Benz India has kickstarted 2024 with the launch of the GLS facelift. The brand’s flagship SUV has received a mild update and is priced from Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom).

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS has been updated with a slightly altered look, which is dominated by a new design for the grille. Replacing the older two slatted unit, the new four-slatted grille is beefier and adds to the butch appeal of the GLS. The LED signature lights are also new, while the LED headlamp and taillamp clusters have been reprofiled. In addition to this, the bumper has also been given a slight redesign.

Mercedes-Benz is offering five colour options for the GLS – Obsidian Black, High-tech Silver, Sodalite Blue, Selenite Grey and Polar White.

The interior layout of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS hasn’t changed compared to the older car, however customers now have the chance to choose from three upholstery options. New additions to the cabin includes a new steering wheel with capacitive buttons, a Mercedes-Maybach inspired dashboard and door trim and a new revamped and modernised MBUX UI.

There are new features as well such as the 360-degree camera, off-road transparent bonnet function as well as ADAS. These compliment the already exhaustive list of comfort and luxury appointments such as the heated and cooled seats, Rear Seat Comfort Packwage with two 11.6-inch displays, head restraints, electric sunblinds and more.

Mercedes-Benz is offering two powertrain options for the new GLS – a diesel and a petrol. The diesel is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder motor making 367bhp and 700Nm of torque while the 3.0-litre petrol has access to 381bhp and 500Nm of torque. Both of these are paired to a ISG which adds 20bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is sent to all the wheels via the 4Matic AWD system. The GLS rides on adaptive air suspension.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS is priced at Rs 1.32 crore for the GLS 450 petrol and Rs 1.37 crore for the GLS 450d diesel. This 7-seater SUV competes with the BMW X7, the Volvo XC90, the Audi Q7 and the Land Rover Discovery in the Indian market.
