The RS 457 is a sub-500cc supersport motorcycle featuring an entirely new parallel-twin engine
Aprilia India has officially unveiled its latest offering, the all-new RS 457, in the Indian market. This motorcycle is positioned in the sub-500cc segment of supersport bikes and boasts a complete fairing, striking aesthetics, and a robust powertrain. While the global launch of the motorcycle occurred recently, Aprilia India chose to showcase it alongside MotoGP riders Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, just ahead of the inaugural MotoGP event scheduled at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Delhi this weekend.
Powering the Aprilia RS 457 is a 457cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine equipped with a 270-degree crankshaft, delivering an impressive 47bhp. This potent engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, and buyers have the option to include a quickshifter for added convenience. The motorcycle also features advanced technology like ride-by-wire, switchable three-level traction control, ride modes, and ABS for enhanced performance and safety.
Taking design cues from Aprilia’s RS 660, the RS 457 boasts a sharp and sporty appearance. It incorporates split LED headlamps that seamlessly blend into the fairing, while strategically placed vents and fins on the front end ensure efficient cooling. The bike is also equipped with a 5-inch LCD instrument panel, providing easy access to various ride modes and functionalities.
The RS 457 utilises an aluminium frame and front USD forks for a balanced and responsive ride. The rear subframe appears to be constructed from steel, and at the rear, a monoshock suspension contributes to the bike’s handling capabilities. Rolling on 17-inch alloy wheels and fitted with TVS Protorq Extreme tyres, the RS 457 promises a thrilling riding experience.
